Dear colleagues,

The Organizing Committee of the 37th Congress of the International Society of Limnology, an event to be held between May 05 to 09, 2024, in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná State, Brazil, announces this public call and invites undergraduate and postgraduate students, registered or not, to participate as monitors (support staff) during the event’s program activities, under the terms established herein.

1.Objective

The objective of this call is to select undergraduate and postgraduate students (master’s and doctor’s degree), registered or not in the congress, and duly enrolled and linked to higher education institutions, to work as volunteer monitors (support staff) and assist the Organizing Committee and Scientific Committee during the activities planned for the 37th SIL program.

2. Support Staff/Team

The support staff will be composed of monitors who will assist in the following aspects of the program:

a. Assist in the delivery of materials in the reception;

b. Assist congress attendees at the reception at the Gran Carimã Hotel and in their movement and direction to the internal spaces;

c. Assist the speakers of lectures and thematic sessions;

d. Assist congress participants at the poster sessions;

e. Supporting the Organizing Committee and Scientific Committee.

3. Monitors will receivea

a. Free registration – free access to the event activities;

b. Certificate of monitoring and participation in the SIL 2024;

c. Training and orientation.

4. Monitors are responsible for:

a. Attend all required activities with no faults or delays;

b. Carry out the activities for which they are responsible for;

c. Inform the Organizing Committee and Scientific Committee any adversities that could compromise the smooth running of the SIL 2024.

5. The Organizing Committee is responsible for:

a. Providing appropriate training for monitors;

b. Defining monitors work schedule (together with the selected monitors);

c. Enabling and optimizing the monitors work in the activities of their greatest interest and affinity, as far as possible.

6. Requirements for participation in the selection process for monitors

a. Minimum dedication of 4h/day;

b. Regularly enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate course;

c. Speak fluent English (Spanish and/or Portuguese will be considered a differential).

7. Monitors selection will consist of two stages

Stage 1 – submission of form and documents (see below);

Stage 2 – if necessary, the committee will hold a virtual meeting.

The following selection criteria will be used in the selection:

a) Relation to Limnology and related areas (proof by the Curriculum Vitae) (internships, published articles, monographs, dissertations, among others);

b) Participation in scientific events (speaker or organizer);

c) Fluency in English will be required.
